Friendly, local service… nationwide
There are over 100 inhabited islands off the coast of Scotland, with a collective population of approximately 103,000. These communities range from the larger islands – such as Lewis and Harris (21,000), the Shetland Mainland (18,800), the Orkney Mainland (17,200), and Skye (10,000) – to below 10 in some of the smallest islands.
While passenger lifts are unlikely to be found on the island of Flodda (population: seven), the larger islands are likely to have passenger lifts in many non-domestic buildings spanning two or more floors. The major island towns of Lerwick, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Portree, and Tobermory all have buildings where lifts are present. To help with lift maintenance for these locations and throughout the Scottish Islands, Jackson provides a reliable and scheduled lift maintenance service; however, unlike the Scottish mainland, our services are dependent upon ferry schedules and availability.
