Lift Modernisation for Tameside Housing Association

Throughout the country, Jackson maintain and modernise lifts in residential properties that span the entire socio-economic groups of diverse people who live in the UK. One of the residential sectors that Jackson have a long and successful presence in, is that of social housing. One of the many examples of our work in this sector is Ashton Pioneer Homes, a community-based Housing Association in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside.

Ashton Pioneer Homes manage a range of almost 1,000 homes including 7 multi-storey, high-rise apartment blocks.

Jackson have recently undertaken a modernisation project at one of these high-rise blocks that had been experiencing reliability issues, due to the age of the lift controllers along with improvements to lift car and landing signalisation.

The two independent traction lifts serve the building’s 12 floors, one ground to floor 12 lift stopping at the even-numbered floors, whilst the other runs from ground to floor 11 for the odd numbers.

The modernisation involved Jackson replacing the failing and obsolete lift controllers with Digital Advance Control traction lift controllers, a partial reline of the lift cars and all new car operating panels, shaft wiring and landing signalisation completed the work.

This modernisation project and lift maintenance for Portland House, Ashton-under- Lyne, is managed and fulfilled from our Manchester offices by local Jackson engineers.
