New stair lift for a premium private care home in Oxfordshire

Across the UK, there is a wide range of residential care homes in the private and public sectors that provide a variety of services for guests with varying levels of mobility and nursing requirements.

For those guests with mobility needs, care homes will have either an enclosed or open platform to provide floor-to-floor access for wheelchair users.

However, there are many care homes with residents who do not require a wheelchair, but do need assistance for climbing or descending stairs. This was exactly the case for a premium private residential care home in Oxford. The long-established home in question has approaching 50 ensuite rooms and provides residential, nursing and end-of-life care for its guests.

During the early part of 2025, Jackson was approached by the home’s management to discuss the possibilities of a stairlift solution that would increase access to the upper floors. The stairlift installation requirement was related to an imperial staircase that has three flights of stairs and two intermediate landings.

In response to the request, one of our mobility specialists visited the care home to undertake a site survey and discuss options with the home’s management team. Following on from the visit, we provided a detailed plan and budget for the installation of the stair lift. With the budget submitted, we had subsequent conversations with the care home’s management, who approved our proposals and appointed Jackson to undertake the stair lift installation.

Local Jackson engineers working from our Birmingham offices undertook the installation whilst taking great care to limit both disruption and noise to the home’s guests.

The care home’s management team were pleased with the completed installation, which was handed over to programme time and on budget.
