Four-star hotel Hull Marina, East Yorkshire

Like many cities across the UK over the past decade, Hull has undergone significant regeneration. This transformation culminated in National Geographic naming the city one of the top 25 global destinations to visit in 2026.

For those in the retail and hospitality sectors, this is extremely good news, and for one well-known hotel chain with a property located adjacent to Hull Marina, the decision was made to refurbish their front-of-house passenger lifts.

With the hotel’s wider refurbishment scheduled for completion in 2026, Jackson was invited to provide a competitive tender to refresh the appearance of the front-of-house lift cars.

To ensure an accurate budget forecast and a realistic works programme, one of our local Sales Engineers visited the site to undertake a comprehensive lift survey. During this visit, we worked closely with the client to determine whether they required a like-for-like replacement of existing finishes or a modern update to the colour scheme and material types.

Following the survey, we provided a detailed estimate and project timeline, along with costs to improve the user experience by replacing the car operating panels, the landing signalisation and the door operating gear. After a thorough review by the hotel’s management team, Jackson was delighted to be awarded the lift refurbishment contract.

Engineers from our Manchester office carried out the relining and refurbishment works. Upon completion, the lift underwent rigorous testing before being returned to service: we fully tested the lifts, placing them back into service to the full satisfaction of the hotel’s management and ready for the anticipated influx of visitors expected in 2026.
