Bespoke modernisation solutions for an industrial park

Like many of the UK’s industrial parks that were constructed in the late 40s and early 50s, the Wilton International site originally owned and operated by ICI in Redcar, Cleveland has become a multi-occupancy centre for business and process innovation. Over the past few years, the Wilton Centre has again undergone several major refurbishment programmes, the most recent, has included some lift modernisation work.

For some time and under a long-term tendered contract, Jackson have been providing maintenance for the various lifts installed at the centre, some of which included equipment that was approaching the end of its service life. In 2021, the Jackson team, working from our Newcastle offices, successfully completed a full modernisation of one of the lifts that was due for updating.

Working with the Centre’s Lift Consultants, our modernisation team have been working on a bespoke modernisation solution for another lift. This has included a new lift controller, new traction motor, a full car reline, new door operators and new shaft wiring.

In all cases when undertaking any modernisation work in an occupied building, our engineers take care to prevent noise and disturbance to the various tenants and their visitors.
