Recently, Jackson won the contract to replace six escalators in the Darwin Shopping Centre, Shrewsbury. The original escalators, then 25 years old, had reached the end of their viable service lives. The project required Jackson to remove each of the six escalators and install two, 70ft long escalators that serve Shrewsbury centre’s bus stops and pedestrian area, and four glass-clad escalators in the Centre’s atrium. All six of the eco escalators were designed and manufactured with energy consumption in mind, which included friendly auto-start and standby that slows or stops the escalator during periods of passenger inactivity.
The Jackson team, operating from our Litchfield offices, are maintaining the Centre’s six escalators along with an additional two in one of the Centre’s stores and the nine lifts at the location that provide the easy movement of passengers through the Darwin Centre.
