Blind Veterans UK – supporting vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.

Blind Veterans UK have two well-being centres, one in Llandudno, Conwy and the other in Rustington, West Sussex. Jackson are proud to have been working at the Llandudno Centre since 2017, during which time, we have been maintaining and modernising the Centre’s eight lifts.

This much-loved charity dates back to 1915, when it was established to support blinded soldiers, sailors and airmen returning from the First World War. The two centres provide on-site and remote rehabilitation, and care for over 4,000 veterans nationwide.

Recently, we have completed a partial modernisation of one of the building’s four internal hydraulic passenger lifts to help improve performance, lower energy consumption, and update the lift to current health and safety standards. The modernisation followed after one of our local Sales Engineers visited the site to undertake a lift survey and discuss budgets with the Centre’s Management Team.

Our work involved local Jackson engineers removing the old hydraulic system and lift controller, rewiring the shaft, and installing a new energy-efficient hydraulic lift package which included a new lift controller. Another important upgrade we made to the lift, was to replace the existing lift car operating panel with a new, fully compliant operating panel with tactile illuminated buttons.
