Bristol Foundation Trust

Project details:

  • Duplex Lift Installation
  • Lift Modernisation
  • MRL Lifts

Over the years, Jackson has forged close working relationships with several of the UK’s NHS Foundation Trust hospitals, including the larger teaching hospitals. This is very much the case with the University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust that runs a group of hospitals, including Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, Bristol Eye Hospital, South Bristol Community Hospital, along with four other specialist hospitals in Bristol, England.

Over time, Jackson engineers, working from our Bristol offices, have undertaken a number of lift modernisations and upgrades which have included a programme involving the installation of new lift controllers and drive replacements, to provide a more energy-efficient service.

One of our more recent projects related to a duplex lift installation at the foundation’s Education and Research Centre in Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol. The requirement was to improve the reliability of two Schindler MRL lifts that serve the building’s four floors. The lifts, working as a duplex pair, had been troublesome for some time and where often breaking down.

In consultation with the Trust, Jackson proposed the replacement of the troublesome equipment, which included the lift controllers and door gear. With the Trust’s agreement, we commenced with a modernisation programme for each lift. Due to social distancing requirements being lifted, the building was fully occupied and our local engineers worked on one lift at a time to ensure continuous lift availability.

The modernisation of each lift was successfully completed during the early part of 2022.
