Broadgate Estates Lift Modernisation Project.  Destination Control, Our Destiny?

We are pleased to announce our most recent competitively tendered success in the form of three major multi tenanted office developments that make up a section of the prestigious Broadgate Estate, located on the edge of the financial square mile within the City of London.

These properties are:

155 Bishopsgate, 8 car high speed passenger lift group.
Exchange House, 8 car high speed passenger lift group
Broadwalk House, 6 car high speed passenger lift group.

This instruction at £3.8 million, represents the culmination of many hours of intense tendering and subsequent contractual negotiations to reach an agreement that was mutually beneficial and above all, practical for all concerned. The team consist of Lerch Bates & Associates (Consulting Engineers), British Land (Building Owners), Broadgate Estates (Site & Property Management) and the various tenants for all three properties.

Interestingly and unique to this project is the requirement at Exchange & Broadwalk for a hall call "destination control" car and landing traffic system. The remit at the outset was very clear and specified an independent version of this technology to ensure an open protocol on all equipment was maintained.

This relatively new technology within the independent control suppliers product range will be our first venture into such a project, we had considered similar opportunities in the past but felt this one offered the end user the very best technical solution to allow the product to shine on it's own merits.

This was achieved with the close assistance of Kollmorgen Control Systems who although having provided this format previously were again asked to stretch their technical skills still further to incorporate a no car station panel approach to the DDA element within each property.

Our works on site are due to commence in November 2009 with a full time site manager based on location operating three teams of installations engineers, one pair for each building and programmed to be completed November 2011, combined with a long term maintenance agreement.

The lift arrangements on site consist of 22 units in total and the client has taken the opportunity to invest in energy efficient components and to this end we will be installing gearless AC machines and energy efficient drives to match.

We are extremely proud to have been appointed as the main contractor for this exciting and unique project. This instruction represents an acknowledgement for our careful and continued efforts towards all of our refurbishment projects. Our improved communications, client liaison, technical abilities, best quality products, attention to detail and fast and successful completion of works are proving desired and major selling points with our new and repeat customers.
