5.0m/s high-speed modernisation

Jackson Lift Group completed the successful modernisation of the high-speed passenger lifts at this London landmark building. The project involved the full modernisation of two Quadruplex high-speed DC gearless lift groups originally installed in 1960. The high-rise group have been reinstated to their original design speed of 5.0m/s and the low-rise lifts to 3.5m/s.

The success of the project was assured when Jackson Lift Group were involved at the early stages of design by the pro-active client and specialist consultant who recognised the complications that modernising the main lifts in a fully occupied building would cause. This approach and teamwork ensured that the project was completed on time, within budget and the properly specified equipment installed to ensure long-term reliability, performance and passenger comfort.

Both lift groups were extensively modernised to bring them up to current standards of ride quality, performance and user interface, together with heavy duty, high quality equipment, combined with the latest control system technology.
